There are two basic mindsets that we tend to adopt –  these are fixed and growth mindsets. Adopting a growth mindset can help you celebrate your strengths, improve upon your weaknesses and work towards fulfilment. Our Director, Jodie Brenton wants to see all Australians have the skills to live a happy and healthy life.

Life Resolutions Psychologist Mary Magalotti shares her advice for cultivating a healthy growth mindset for yourself:

Tips for Adopting a Growth Mindset

Change your view on your weaknesses: We all have our flaws. Focussing on these flaws in a negative way can waste time and energy. When adopting a growth mindset, you will learn to see these imperfections as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Seek new challenges: Seeking new challenges will allow you to grow in new ways! It can be easy to settle into an easy routine where you are not gaining or improving upon your life. In order grow, we need to challenge ourselves.

Learn from your friends: Appreciating the skills of others is a great way to improve your own skills. You can assess the skills that others have and pinpoint the skills you wish to work on. Reaching out to the people that have, or are working on those skills can help build connections with other people that have a growth mindset.
